How does the performance increase compare to the standard aFe dry-drop in filter on a JCW N18? I'm assuming this is superior regardless, more curious than anything.

No direct comparison side by side. Since we did not dyno the aFe dry in our test. But we do have the figures linked above on the product, on the stock factory paper panel filter / factory stock box , so the afe might be a little better then stock paper/ standard airbox in torque, marginal in HP.

Our ECS engineered box would say its leaps and bounds above a panel filter. Plus is looks great too.

Thanks

Alrighty, thank you for the response. I'll more than likely end up ordering one for my '14 JCW Countryman within the next few weeks, that carbon fiber just looks sick.

Great , thanks. On top of the great performance and little more whoosh sound, it looks soooo good in the engine bay. Your JCW Countryman will thank you.

Unfortunately I think I'm going to hold off until it's CARB legal. Such a bummer.

We don't have a good sound clip yet, but will post up when we get one. It sounds louder then a Factory JCW Airbox with the cone filter. The ECS CF system is closed and feeds to the factory cold air inlet, but being carbon fiber and a box the sound seems to be louder( acoustics ) then all closed boxes I have heard. So louder then all closed, but not as loud as all those full open intakes.

I might probably be the first person ordering this System. And finally I got a chance to install it this weekend. I haven't taken any picture of the installed intake at this point, so what I m about to say is merely none-existent to somebody . I will post my review in the forum once I get a chance In The future, as I travel a lot from countries to countries. Anyway.

The sound of this system is pretty quiet comparing to any open air intake, however, it is louder than the AFE dry air panel filter (I was on AFE panel air filter before I order this kit) by very marginally. In my opinion, this is the perfect low-profile intake sound ever.
In performance gain, i don't have any dyno number to support this yet, at lower rpm, it is about the same as AFE. However, It makes a longer pull from 4000rpm to 6000rpm.
Very quality piece of work! Worth buying!

Btw, this kit was installed on my CM fJCW.

Good to hear 3leafz. I will have to wait a bit longer before ordering this kit though. Turns out my car has bad valve seals At least I found what was causing the smoke. I hope to order it in the next few months though!

I think ra2fanatic might have done a quick write up on this system on his build thread.

My ECS intake arrived on Friday, installed it myself that afternoon with minimal effort. Definitely notice an improvement in performance over the drop in aFe panel I had installed prior, but I think cleaning out the *ten* walnuts that were jammed in the lower half of my original intake and lower inlet probably helped a bit as well:

The funny thing is that there are no walnut trees within at least a half a mile (if not more) of where I park my car, so where these could have originated is beyond me.

The Mini may be storing them for the winter.

That's crazy, seen some rodents and animal winter storage. Sounds like they wanted you to have less performance. We did not hire any rodents or squirrels to do this

Hello Photoboi - We had gain of 3 hp , 4 ft-lbs tq on the N14 Cooper S. 11 hp , 10 ft-lbs tq on the N14 JCW engine. The charts are post on the product with the model, they were both stock, no tunes.
