EGT for Turbo on 2009 JCW

Does anyone know the normal temperature range for the EGT ? I am getting temperatures up to 700deg which seems way too high. In addition here is an ominous smell !

Help??

Your talking degC right? On a 2013 S I'm getting 1300F-1400F (700C-775C). It will get higher if I'm WOT for a long time.

Is your exhaust new? If so, they do smell.

Dont think the exhaust is new. The smell has come because the hood white stripes are now discolouring due to the heat. Was wondering if the heat shield on the turbo could b faulty? Many thanks for you help. Running the 2009 R56 with European specs however it looks as though the turbo may have been modified as the gauge is an add on and does not look as though it was factory fitted. I have booked it in for a diagnostic check in any case to be safe.
