Every time I watch this and hear it I get more pissed! That is what I thought I was getting and now I have to spend another $900+- to get this.

Not happy!

***hey JCWCM***what exhaust are you going with? I am scared to pull the trigger w/o hearing one. I am drawn to VIP's exhaust as they designed it to work with the existing CMJCW rear valance and exhaust tips....

It's embarassing that Mini's highest "performance" trim line sounds like as you say...a Corolla...
I've ordered a system from Quicksilver Exhausts in the UK.

www.quicksilverexhausts.com

It will be the first Countryman JCW system they've made, but based on their reputation and how their exhausts sound on other MINIs, I'm going with them.

I also like the idea of having a British designed and made system on my MINI. It'll work with the factory exhaust finishers in the bumper.

Will post before and after clips once it's in. Will be about 2 weeks...they're making it now.

Just a quick edit to JCWCM's post (not that I'm picky, but because I wanted to hear the exhaust), but here's the correct website:

http://www.quicksilverexhausts.com/

Very much looking forward to hearing your thoughts once it's installed!

Whoops. Thank you. Now corrected...

There aren't any clips of the Countryman JCW there because mine will be the first. They did point me to the R55 Clubman though which does have video clips, saying it was the best analogue of what it will sound like.

From the thread in the regular countryman forum it seems the indicate that just removing the resonator and second cat and putting a straight pipe back to the muffler for those sections will return a lot of the pop and gurgle. Anyone try this yet?

No, but the Quicksilver exhaust I'm having made will do just that.

The resonator, 2nd cat and rear muffler are all coming off, and will be replaced with a high-performance muffler positioned where the resonator is, and then pipes that run straight through to the outlets.

It's getting fitted a week from Friday, so stay tuned.

I must say that now with 1500 miles, I am getting some sound out of the exhaust. when I lift from 2nd or 3rd gear I do hear a good deal of low frequency popping-sounds good.....does not, however, sound like the higher frequency popcorn sound from the video of the euro version

Can't wait to hear how the Quicksilver sounds AND fits with the rear valance of the CM JCW. PLEASE let us know!

thanks.

Is there a little burble? Yes. But there's no popping at all. None. Even the Countryman S has pop, so it blows my mind that this doesn't. This exhaust is too tame for a JCW product.

Listen to the first few seconds of this Turkish review of the car. THIS is pop and burble - but it was engineered out for the USA...

^^ This. The missing pops make me very sad. I'm not sure it has anything to do with the exhaust though, I thought it was part of the ECU tuning. The exhaust itself seems to be noticeably louder than the stock "S" exhaust.

Only 300+ miles, though no burble or pop yet. Waiting till after break-in period to see what happens. Can definitely FEEL sport mode in acceleration and in steering. No exhaust diff yet.

I am going to stop in at the dealer Monday For an oil change and tire rotation (at my cost, only 4k Miles). I will ask them where pop and burble is? My bet is I get a blank stare. Next Question: I wonder if you could just reflash to a standard S so I could get the pop and burble? I am sure that will get a no way in h--- answer.

My SA's had not clue that the JCW did not pop and burrble. They checkedand there were no updates for her. They did send a note up inquiring about it. I don't expect anything back.

1st oil change and tire rotation at 4,250 miles, next one they pay for.

Same here. When she's warm and in sport mode, I get plenty of burble on deceleration but so far nary a pop to be found. I still think she sounds great.

So, my new exhaust system just landed from Quicksilver in the UK.

It came a day late, so it's now getting fitted on Tuesday instead of today. Should be interesting to see if it turns the (very) muffled gurgle on overrun into something more interesting.

Stay tuned...

So, I bought a GoPro yesterday. You'll see I'm not very good with it, but I did my best to make a 'before' video, in the hope that the 'after' will sound much better.

Replacement exhaust goes on tomorrow.

what mount did you use? My son has a GoPro and I'd like to film Lana. She does pop, but is an S, not a JCW.

My cooper S with Supersprint 200 cat, supersprint mid silencer and JCW exhaust, doesn't burble that much... but it pop like hell :D I'll prepare a short movie soon

When I remove the mid silencer (expecialy when i go to MINI rallies) the pop are so loud that they sounds like gun shots :D

Yeah, I know. I had it fitted, and then had to head to the airport, so apologies for the delay.

I stuck the GoPro on for the drive home though, and I'm back in a few hours and will be get a clip uploaded.

The headlines? It's a little louder and sounds a bit more ripe/more MINI.

There's definitely more and louder burbling - I can hear it on the overrun now, where I couldn't before.

Still no pop, dammit, but like we all suspected that's a US engine tune thing, not an exhaust thing.

I'm surprised it's not louder than it is. The second cat, resonator and rear muffler all came off, and replaced by a single high-flow muffler (positioned where the resonator was).

A pic is attached of the parts, pre install. Sound video to come.

I also ordered a 'Defenders of Speed' intake - the road version with the baffle, not the track version. That shipped today, so will go on in the next few days too.
