JCW Do I Have An Engine Problem
Do I Have An Engine Problem
My 2009 JCW Clubman just had the timing chain tensioner service done and while the so called death rattle is completely gone I have noticed that on two or three occasions during the last 3 weeks shortly after starting off and if I give the car a little throttle - not a lot - I feel none of the expected surge in power but at the same time I hear a deep throated exhaust tone. This has happened as much as 5 or 7 minutes after setting off. The RPM is likely in the 2 to 2.5K range. Once the car has warmed up the car won't do it.
Based on the repair receipt I have a feeling some software was updated so I am trying to decide if this is a hardware or software issue. The condition was definitely not there before they did the timing chain service.
Any comments are appreciated.

I looked at the paperwork and there is no mention of software on my JCW but on my daughters S they did update the software - seems odd to me they would do the software on one and not the other. Both cars were done within a week of each other at the same dealer.
