JCW JCW stage 1 tuning kit
I can't speak for that, as I have a 2012 and the kit for those is completely different and includes different parts. I'd say more or less the ECU flash is probably different. I wouldn't think parts would be different as for as much as I'm aware nothing critical change in that time span.
As for my 2012 JCW stage 1 kit. I love it. The power is quite noticeable, and I really enjoy how the boost seems to stick around longer as for before you could feel it letting going a little as you go higher RPMs. It just keeps going, and going. The combination between the new intake, and the exhaust is awesome. You can hear the turbo spooling up as you accelerate. If you let off while on it hard, you even get a nice whooshing sound similar to a blow off valve. The exhaust I think is perfectly tuned. Not too loud and obnoxious, but throaty enough that it gets the job done. Just like before, if you engage the SPORT button you get that pop and burble, but it's tuned better that it's not cracking obnoxiously like it used to sometimes.
Personal opinion. Love the kit. Yes, it's pricey. But then again, what isn't from BMW. For me to spend the money, and know the whole thing is still going to be backed by BMW/MINI has me sold. I enjoy it, and will continue to.

There is a little drone. But, I've also got a rear seat delete so that's more than likely why I hear it a little more. My buddies 2011 I was in with the stage 1 and with rear seats was quieter than mine. It's not too bad though. You also have to take into consideration that after a month or so the exhaust will quiet down a bit, just need to get some carbon flowing through that exhaust. Like I said though, I'm pretty happy with it.
Hi,
New MCS owner here.
Does the JCW Performance Kit, or the JCW Brake Upgrade, etc, add any value to the car, when it comes to trade-in, since it is a Mini accessory?
I know w/aftermarket parts, they don't add any value to a car, and when it comes to the re-programmed ECU, that is usually erased, and the original OEM software re-installed, especially if the vehicle is still under warranty, or in order for it to become CPO (Certified Pre-Owned).

Sadly there is not much added value in terms of second hand market.
Most second hand car dealer will just look at it as MCS. It's similar to a Mercedes with AMG package, most C300 with AMG or without are the same price.

I actually have been trying to justify this myself with the same reasoning, so I asked my MINI dealer to value my trade as it stood with and without the kit...there was no difference (or at least nothing appreciable). If you are going to spend the 2 grand on brakes or the tuning kit, I'd go with the kit. The brakes be upgraded with cryo rotors, better pads and stainless steel brake lines to help increase braking performance for much less than the cost of the BBK. On the other hand, if you plan on tracking the car a lot, it might be better to go with the brakes.
