JCW, how to verify

So I am looking at a 2002 S that supposedly has the JCW package. However i am not sure this wasn't just bits and pieces added afterward, and not the complete package.

How do I know the car has the proper motor, brakes and such. I couldnt see looking through threads here for the last hour or so.

In the engine bay, on the intake box, it has a JCW logo, nothing on the outside of the car, the front and rear bumper are all body color, with more aggressive looking spoilers, the suspension is harder and the brakes seem good. This is a dealer car so I can't get a history if stuff was added piecemeal or not at a later point.

Find out which jcw kit or kits the car got...
Jcw on a gen1 car was dealer or later add on parts...
The engine kit is what most folks look for...
A mildly ported head, and a coated SC (same as 05+ S), with about an 11% reduction pulley.
The jcw 210 package, which included the airbox and bigger injectors came out in 2005 I think...
Other JCW kits...
JCW exaust...more hp, less back preassure cat back, better sound
Brakes...red calipers, basicly r56 rotors on front, better pads...
Suspension...shorter springs, different struts...
Body kit...different look...
Numerous other bits...steering wheel, dash covers, seat covers, mats, you get the picture!!
Tossing a used airbox (jcw) on a car, and calling it a jcw at trade in common...so procede carefully.

Cool, thanks, yeah I am starting to think this is a poser car, just had the bumper kit and intake added. Nothing else I can visibly see looks like a JCW car, of course I don't know what I am looking for. There was no front upper strut brace, and the engine looked like any other Gen 1 S I have been looking at. So nothing visable outside the car to tell if the engine has the mods. The ride was pretty harsh compared to other S cars I have tested. I am new to minis, so trying to get a feel for what is out there.

Thanks!

Strut brace is yet another add-on...
The early cars varried quite a bit quality wise...
Have you looked at the buyers guide on motoringfile?
That will tell you what to look out for, issues, model year, by model year!

Early JCW mods were headwork(very little) and catback exhaust, valve cover had a badge with # on it intercooler cover had JCW badge and JCW badges on front and rear of car. Early JCW did not have 380cc injectors or the CAI that came out later.
