JCW JCW Tuning kit vs. stock MCS (Low end)
JCW Tuning kit vs. stock MCS (Low end)
I'm just looking at the charts for both the JCW tuning kit vs. the stock MCS on the mini website.
Torque is equal or higher throughout, but HP with the tuning kit is lower than stock from 0-4500rpm.
I'm the type of driver that spends the majority of my time cruising at 2000rpm and short-shifting all day. Does this mean the JCW tune isn't quite right for me?
The extra power up top is nice, but that only accounts for the 5% of the time when I find a challenging stretch of road and totally rip through it.
comments?

Hey urameatball,
From the reviews and what I can tell the JCW kit smooths out the power delivery, and from the chart I have the only part where the white hp line (ie stock MCS) is equal to the red hp line (JCW tune) is at 1500 rpm. Other then that its above it all the way to 189 hp. The other thing is in a standard car the number you want to look at is torque, and the JCW kit adds some decent torque up to 200.
That said though if your not hitting much above 2000 rpms your really not even engaging the turbo.... I know in my current car (wrx STI) up until 3500 rpms the car is a normal every day car. After 3500 you get the turbo and the car inhales small children and gas stations.... hence the nick name....
Being you spend most of your time under 2k rpms you may consider a non s. After a long debate I ended up adding the kit because of the exhaust sound, and the upgraded power, and o yeah the warranty
.
Good luck either way.... cant wait to pick mine up tomorrow~!
