JCW Do I have a USA or UK build?
Do I have a USA or UK build?
This may seem like a stupid question but how do you know if your car is a USA or UK spec car. I live in Taiwan and far from the dealer. Is there a quick and easy way to check? Look at engine, Vin number etc.
I understand the Alta stuff is only for the USA model so need to find out which I have. Cheers m'dears.

Are you talking about the JCW kit parts?
Or just in general? UK spec car will have the steering on the right and have no lights on the fender arches. US spec cars have the steering on the left and lit reflectors in the fender arches.

Hi Coyle
I already have the JCW kit. Steering is on the left here but I understand the USA cars are a little different...MAF sensor and maybe some other exhaust differences. I'm not sure which the Taiwan imports are..left hand drive European(UK) or USA models. Just want to know if it makes a difference and how to tell as I want to order some Alta parts.

If you PM me the last 7 digits of your VIN I can tell you if it is a US spec car.
UK-spec can either be left or right hand drive, depending on the country they're imported to, while US-spec cars are unique to the USA for safety, emissions, etc.
Jonny Crisp I would bet yrs is a left hand drive UK-spec, just like what goes to Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, etc., esp. if U have oem option paks with weird names like "Chili," etc. You dont get those in the USA.
I know Hong Kong is right hand drive, due to being a old English colony, but what about mainland China. Isnt that left-hand? And what is Taiwan??

Regardless of the drive side, most places in Asia and Middle East import Minis that don't have MAF as well except for 2009 factory JCW (I heard this from a person I met but did not confirm personally).
Other than the CAI and turbo inlet tube that accommodates MAF, the rest of the components should fit if you were lhd. If you are rhd, then some of the interior components will be a problem too.
