Help with engine stutter
Help with engine stutter
Hey, folks, I have a problem that I KNOW I instigated, but not sure how or why. (2004 JCW)
Symptom(s) first:
Pronounced engine stutter at moderate to open throttle, but none at modrate acceleration or at steady speed. This morning I was on cruise control and climbing one of east Tennessee's mountains and it reached the throttle point at which the stumble occurred, and before I was able to override the CC, the check engine light began to blink. I immediately pulled over and cut the car off. Upon restarting, check engine light stayed on, but was not blinking, so I continued to work. Same deal with stuttering, but no worse. My fuel economy has not changed.
Now here are the contributing factors:
10 days ago I changed the spark plugs (NGK laser iridiums) plug wires (magnecor), belt (gatorback) oil & filter, Redline MTL transmission fluid, cleaned & re-oiled air filter. Plugs were torqued per specs, but I have not gone back over them. The coil wire on #2 or #3 was rusted and I cleaned it (as per a previous post)
I will try to find an auto store with a code reader and go forward, but are there any "aHA! I know exactly what is going on!!" thoughts out there?
Thanks in advance
Philip
