What's in the JCW Tuning Kit

Hi all,

I am new here and just recently got myself a MCS (2 wks ago!) . I am having a JCW tuning kit installed and the dealer is saying they require at least 2 days to install it. They even mention having to take the exhaust manifold out for replacement...!!! I thought it only involve the air filter, sport exhaust and ECU upgrade and that it will only take 4-5 hours of work. What gives? Is my dealer giving me #%#@#? or is the JCW website wrong? Have any member got this JCW tuning kit done and do they know what's in it and how long it took? Thanks!

Just a few hours at most..the book calls out about 2 hours to install and then the ECU programming...get your disc...

Where are you located and what dealer are you talking to...

I am located in Melbourne Australia and the dealer is Bib Stillwell. I reckon they have no idea. My MCS was their first? Hope not! Picked up the car last night after 2 and a half days at the garage. They have no disc for me, told me it was hooked up to the machine for a download and took hours for the software to complete. Again, they have no idea!

One good thing, they are keeping the replced parts for me to pick up this weekend. I will be able to tell what got changed. Will keep you posted.

Picked up the swapped parts and they are:
-the stock upper filter cover
-the flat paper filter element
-the exhaust manifold
-the exhaust manifold gasket
-the stock Cooper S exhaust muffler cut off at mid point.

will post a picture once a know how.

They had to keep mine over night. It took 6+ hours for the software to install. At least thats what they told me.

If i remember correctly: Every country outside of the US has a different down pipe. We basically have the John Cooper works down preinstalled and everyone else gets a different down pipe.

Is that what they meant by "Exhaust manifold (only for ECE vehicles)" under components modified in the workshop certificate?
