JCW steering wheel for automatic R56?

I am not sure if the JCW steering will fit the mcsa R56 with paddle shift. Different sources gave me different answers. Anyone knows the real answer or has one installed? Thanks you.

I don't think so because of the paddles

You cannot fit one to the R53 auto; I expect the same for the R56 auto

So who knows for sure? Because the configurator didn't complain about it when the auto tranny was already on the list. And can you still install the JCW steering wheel and just not have the paddles work or have the paddles removed? I can live without the paddles.

I spoke to my service advisor this very question, he said No can do! The paddles are the problem. Maybe MINI will eventually make one for Auto MINIs or have it modded somewhere else. I would like to see this happening!

I can do without the paddle shift too if the JCW steering wheel fits on our auto tranny.

hey, with the weight you save from the carbon fiber you'll gain 1 million horsepower.

I installed the JCW wheel on my auto. You have to remove the paddles and if you have the mfsw buttons you have to replace those with the ones for the manual because the paddles are wired to the button modules. Pretty easy mod once you have the parts.

Here is a pic for proof:

Although the price is high, the quality looks very good and actually not a bad value compared to other things that people on NAM spend money on.

However, I don't see the appeal of hard, slippery carbon fiber on the rim.

If I was building my dream OEM+ spec JCW with nothing but the best I would probably get that^ steering wheel. The carbon is a nice touch.

That is pretty awesome. How did you pull it off? Was there a lot of cutting of the jcw wheel?

Thanks!

The writeup is below the picture above, but yeah, basically I cut up a JCW wheel the same as the stock wheel, and reused the bolt that holds it in place. Rerouted the existing wires. It's not hard to do, but it takes some guts, lol.

I didn't have to buy any parts to do it, just modify the existing wheel. Anyone in the Los Angeles/OC that wants to do this mod, contact me and I can help you out.

That's cool.

Would also be nice to have one side up-shift and the other side down-shift. Anyone know if that's possible?

Frankly I don't know why some people want their shifters this way. I like to keep my steering column low, and if I'm in a turn preparing to upshift and my right paddle shifters are basically in my lap, I can use my left hand to upshift. Pull to Upshift, Push to Downshift. Works on either side.
