JCW R56

What's the word on the modified minis! I heard you can buy the basic JCW package and install it on your stock R56 for a little over $2,000. It includes exhaust, ECU upgrade, and upgraded intake. It should be made available pretty soon according to the last article i read. but thats pretty much all i know, and i was wondering if anyone else has any additional information? power increase was said to be from 172hp to 192hp. if those numbers are right, do you think paying over $2000 is a little too pricey for 20 additional hp or not?

I would think that it will be closer to $2500 installed ----- my dealer knows that I'm interested in being the first local with it and I'm on speed dial. Their service boys still haven't been informed.
What I've heard is that each dealer can get a demo kit free if they buy some JCW wheels and fit the car with the JCW aero kit as well. Show the car for a while and then sell it for a larger margin...
I think we'll see the first modified cars popping out in 2 or 3 weeks. It will happen fast though.

Why does Mini downgrade actual horsepower?

I have just read an article in Grassroots Magazine where they compared HP on three different cars. The cars tested were a 07 MCS, Nissan SER and Mazdaspeed 3. They tested the cars for HP at the wheels not at the crank. They impressed the MCS which rated power at wheels at 174.4 and torque at 197.9! Manufacturers specs is 172 HP and torque is 177lb with overboost at 192. Nissan was 168.4HP and 153.9 torque. Nissan claims 200HP and 180lb torque. Mazda on the dyno was 231.6Hp and 232.8 torque. Mazda rates it at 263HP and 280lb of torque. Judging by these figures The Mini should come in at around 210HP and 220lb of torque. Maybe Mini downrates their HP and torque because of insurance premiums in England where it might bumped up to the next higher premium and therefore reduced sales?
