... those look like the Italian ones I had on a couple of my old Minis ... they work great - they make noise and everybody notices you ... but they are a bit high pitched: there is kind of a 'meep-meep' cartoonish quality to them.
But they are made well and lasted through the even 'firmer' ride of the previous car ...

had 'em on my Miata - crapped out after a year. They'd get 'stuck'. You didn't find out until you pressed the button and got a weak sick sound. Supposedly if you kept lubricating the reed at the base of the bell with WD-40 they'd continue to work. In the end I was testing the horn before every drive to find out if I had one or not that day.

I have experience with 'real' airhorns. They don't need maintenance. These little guys became more of a pain then they were worth. I went to a louder electric horn.

Loved the sound but they failed when I needed them the most.

I had originally put those in my mini. My only problem was mounting them, and I did a terrible job. I swaped them for the flat Hella horns. Moss make's it easier with brackets, and exact spots to put the stuff. If you want to save the room, I recommend the "shell like" hella horns. They're flat, and are just as loud, and do not need that silly mini air compressor, or a relay.

.... mine never 'failed' to work - but there was always a 'lag' ... you had to wait for the air to get from the pump to the horn! ... that lag seemed to be longest when you needed noise the most ...

there are excellant ones like these ;
... available here : http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....&SKU=77573

... if you want electrics instead ...

Thanks for the info! I might get those. I haven't taken a good look at the stock horns--do I need to remove the bumper to change them? If so, how do you remove the bumper? Thanks

I wouldn't go with those, they are twice the price of the same FIAMM horns (sans mounting bracket) down at your local auto parts store, which is what I bought. I managed, with a little flexing, to get both horns crammed down into the location of one of the OEM horms on the right side. The pump is up in the cowl (also on the right side). And I relocate the low tone OEM horn into the left side. This give me an instant on horn for quick blips, and a very interesting slightly delayed 2 tone sound. PM me if you want more info.

There are two holes above the horn wells, so, accessing them is very very easy. The hard part was fitting my hand down it. take a look, it's easy!

I had some like this on my TR7. they sounded great and got the point across!! Then came winter, you hit the horn button and suddenly your horns have emphasema! sounded more like someone learning to whistle. it was explained to me by my mechanic that the cold weather keeps them from building up enough pressure to "blow" the horns, and suggested i replace them with a more conventional set or run a hose into the cockpit so i could blow them myself! i hooked the old horns back up.

I just got these from Moss for Christmas, and was wondering other than some of the negatives, if there are any other things to watch for and beware of. Is there a est time of installation? Just wondering how long to plan to be working on it. Seems like it's easy enough with all the parts and detailed instructions, but there's always something. Just curious about it all and to get some feedback. Thanx,

Cheers,
