Interior/Exterior need material for handmade graphics
need material for handmade graphics
Hey, all.
After looking at all the cool graphics on so many of your cars, I have decided what I want to do to mine. Unfortunately, the graphic pattern I want does not exist (yet).
I want to do a checkerboard roof pattern, with the big squares, but I don't want to cover the sunroof. So I am supposing I would need to cut individual 'squares,' lay them down, and then trim them so they stop at the edge of the sunroof all the way around.
My roof is black, so I would need white vinyl.
Can anyone help me out here?
Thanks.

Why not get the full roof check graphic and cut out the sunroof part?
If you really want to cut out squares yourself -- and try and get them aligned right -- you can get vinyl sheets here:

I may want bigger squares than what's available in pre-made checkerboard patterns. Thanks for that link.
I know that there a few companies that make graphics specifically for our cars, but the only names that come mind right now are aesthetic creations and cooper flags. Are there others that I can search through?

You can talk to most any local sign shop - they usually have vinyl and can have or get perforated vinyl as well. Talk with several shops; the larger ones also carry more varieties of vinyl (the stuff can be expensive, especially the reflective vinyl, but the standard colors like black and white are less pricey and more available).
You can make up the squares yourself and align them carefully. Do NOT trim them while on the car - even if you're careful the knife will leave gouges in the paint or scratches on the sunroof. Be sure things are scrupulously clean, and check the web for installation instructions (I think you can use a very dilute solution of soapy water to get the installation ju-ust right).
I had some luck aligning things using a laser level supported on a tripod when I did my checkered mirrors... you can also use that self-stick saran wrap as an alignment tool when you do a roof I suppose. Here's my post for ideas... https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=82321
