Painting a Whalen ****...

? or ?

I have a design in mind and I'd like to hear from people who have either (a) painted their Whalen or (b) know someone who has painted their Whalen.

What type of paint was used?

Any issues with rub-off?

I'm trying to decide whether to (a) simply paint the engraving lines or (b) paint the actual surface.

After painting, did you use a sealant on the entire **** or ???

Thanks!

I've been thinking of painting just the engraved lines of mine, (leaving everything else the brushed metal). Has anyone done this?

Painting the engraved lines works great. I first cleaned the area thoroughly with acetone, then painted lines with an automotive touch-up pen, and lightly wiped off excess with acetone. I only applied one coat and used no sealant. You can apply additional layers of paint if you want to fill in the recess more. After a year and a half (15K miles) it still looks fresh with no wear.

Looks great! Do you know of anyone who painted the non-engraved section? In my particular situation, it will be a bead-blasted surface.
