Hey all,

So I received my front checkered marquee plate, chrome checkered license plate for the back, and the checkered rear view mirror cover for my 02 MC.

Installed the rear plate just fine and is looking great, but the other two not yet. I have the aero kit, and there is no license plate holder for the marquee plate (which didn't come with a frame even). Anyone know where I can get a front license plate mounting bracket? Tried eBay already..

Before placing my order for the checkered rear view mirror, I made sure I asked them (Morristown MINI of New Jersey) if they fit the 02 models. But stupid me, I ordered the ones for the 04-on models. The thing I was unsure about was the auto-dimming feature, or EC. How do you know if you have that?

I think that the mirrors with auto-dimming and/or EC have additional sensors on the (I believe) driver's half of the back side of the mirror. I remember reading a thread on the checkerboard inside mirror cover that stated that it was easy to modify the cover for the auto-dimming by cutting out an opening around where the sensors are located. My wife's '05 just has a plain mirror so it wasn't an issue for me. I could see that it would be easy to trim the cover as it isn't very thick. Hope this helps.

 

The checkered mirror covers will not fit your 02. ( I ordered them for
my 03 after I was told they would fit ) The rearview mirror is larger in
04 and newer. MINI has the union jack covers for the older models, but
not the checkered.
