Should I leave it black to match my roof or paint it red to give it some contrast ?

Imo it lookes like a tape on wing when it's a different color then the roof... remember the best mods are generally the ones that look like some one from the mini design team meant for it to be there.

Personally, I think a red wing would look out-of-place up there, so far removed from the rest of the red on the car. I'd go with black to match the roof.

(Of course, both of our MINIs are convertibles, so what right do I have to post an opinion about a spoiler?)

Once you go black... you won't want red.

 

My only thing is once I go black I am afraid that it will blend too much.. I want a little bling !

 

Idea:
Paint the wing black, put black bonnet and boot stripes on, put red stripes on the roof and have someone like Asthetic Creations make up some little red stirpes that extend to the wing. That would give you some nice contrast. Whatever you do, do what you think will look best.

Edit...some of Asthetic's strips already cover the wing...

 

I guess I'll just ask why? Maybe there is good reasoning for it...but i dont see why you would disrupt the cleanliness of the car with a bright red "swoosh" on a predominantly black top. Think of modding your exterior as making a painting....it would disturb the entire painting to place an unjustified red mark on a beautiful smooth shape. You have no other red anywhere on your roof....so why a red line seems like a good idea is beyond me

I guess red if you wanna scream "hey look, i modded my car...cant you tell?!"....but black if you want it to look good

 

It's not really bling if it doesnt blend in....it's just mismatched and ugly

nono...YOUR idea made sense. You suggested adding OTHER red accents to compliment the red accent that he wanted to put on. That's great because you would be carrying a large amount of red up onto the roof.

I was critiquing his idea of just putting one little red accent up there...totally removed from all the red on his car. That is the concept that doesnt make much sense.

I have a practical suggestion... take pics of it in Black... then pic up some red vinyl tape and cover it...and take some pics in red. No permanant damage if the red sucks...and you can definitively say to yourself which way you prefer it. Good luck!
