I'm trying to remove my tail light assembiles but can't seem to get them out. There is one bolt and 2 clips. It's clear that you remove the bolt but how the heck to you get those clips out of the way? They are pretty firm and it seems that you need to release them at the same time...anyway, what's the "trick" to getting those clips off?

Any help would be appreciated. I've searched and couldn't find out how. I've seen a couple of references to "remove the clips and ..." but I must be a dork since I can't get those clips off...

Thanks!

There are two clips on the outside of the unit. Press in (towards the inside of the car) and the whole thing should pop out (assuming you removed the bolt). The bottom clip can be a bit difficult to get to with larger hands. Try the top first and it should become more obvious.

Putting them back in is easy as all you have to do is line it up with the bolt and tighten. The clips will fasten themselves once it gets tight.

That's exactly what I tried...maybe my clips are really stiff, but I can't seem to bend them far enough to unclip.

So...should I be able to depress the clip, pop the top loose, and then proceed to the bottom one? Maybe the rubber gasket is tight and I didn't push out hard enough. I have another set of tail lights and those clips are way stiff as well...

Sound like I just need to try harder....hmmm...

The clips don't really clip very firmly -- it's mostly the gasket that holds the lights. Just bend the clips however much you can and push the light out quite firmly. You can do 'em one at a time.

You need to give the housing a little push from the inside while depressing the clip in order to get the clip to 'pop' out. The bottom one is a bit of a pain to get at.

Don't konw if this will help--but, here's a pic of the backside. I am pointing to the two clips that need to be depressed about 1/8" as you push the light out.
