What's the best stuff to use for DIY black out? I used Duplicolor trim paint with an adhesion promoter for my first pass. It looks great and sticks well, but chips a bit too easily. Looking for a more bombproof alternative.

Huh, interesting idea. So it holds up well? How did you prep for it? Would you be able to post a close up? I'm wondering about the texture.

I will be repainting them soon, they look good for about 6 months or over winter time and they start to fade. you cant clear coat it, it bubbles. i cant figure out any other thing to do besides repaint every 6 months or so.


the texture looks like a fresh coat of base clear paint before wetsanding. they call it FLA (ask me if you dont know what it means, lol)

 

The best thing I have seen is people doing them in Vinyl. It looks good but you have to have practice at putting it on. Similar to window tinting. I like the vinyl because it is resisant to rock chips.
