How to remove headlight rings?

Hey everyone, im gonna be painting my headlight rings soon, and was wondering how i should go about removing them. I have an 06' with Xenons.

I heard you just pry on them until they pop off?

and that they can bend during removal, so its a good idea to buy a new set to paint and install the new ones after the removal???

I was going to sand them lightly and use the Krylon paint that is "no prep work needed" I figure i would sand it anyways for added safety.

So does anyone know how to remove the headlight rings? have any tips/tricks to make it easy for me?

any info would be great, I plan to black out most of my car this weekend.

When you lift up the hood there should be three bolts that release the whole headlight. Then there are several little clips holding the rings on. It is very straight forward and easy.
