Aero side skirt question

I have a second hand set of aero side skirts and the extra plastic strips that join to the under side part of the skirts to the car sill are missing.Apparently you can only buy these with a new complete side skirt. But the skirts them selves tuck under the car by about 3" so i was thinking of just using silicone or some sort of bonding/sealand to connect the under side part of the sill to the car as the front side of the sill is firmly secured with the factory clips and the top is stuck inplace with double sided tape from factory so they shouldnt move.Or may be i could cut a peice of me cooper s oem skirts and fabricate a extra strip to extend further under the car.Any idears?

Get in touch with Classic MINI, they can order the parts you need. When I did my skirts I messed one up and needed some additional parts for attaching it to the car. They were able to get me just what I needed without any hassle at all. They are listed in the Vendor directory if you don't already have their contact info.

Good luck.

I am thinking of putting the side skirts on my new MCS BRG/B when I get it. I have ween the instructions for the DIY but am confused. Do you have to remove the existing inside door sill and "cooper s" labels in order to install the skirts? Is this a relatively easy install without help of the dealer or body shop?

Hi mate

It's taken a few reads to understand the part you mean, but I think I know what you mean now. Have you tried the breakers places
Here's one that may be able to help out, give them a call

Thanks dood ,the only thing is im in the UK but ive been speaking to a breaker /car resto chap who deals in minis and he recons they have fitted lots of aero skirts with out the extension strip and as its flat on the underside of the sill the aero skirt sits tight espesialy with a bit of silicone to bond and seal it .but i recon i could cut my old cooper s skirts and use a section to replicate the missing strip of plastic. but i just wanted to know how far these do rely sit under the sill without the strip as i havent picked the aeros skirts up yet so its hard to picture.

Didn't realize you were in the UK. Too bad, you can definitely get the individual connectors, odds & ends, etc. over here. It still might be worth your while to get in touch with Classic.

The aero skirt sits lower than the standard S skirts, so I don't think that would work unless you could make a spacer to fit between them

Personally I wouldn't like them fitted without these pieces, the S skirt has clips all along, but the aero skirt only has 2 at the front and 3 at the rear, nothing in the middle. The pdf fitting instructions show where the clips fit.

That other breakers yard had a website listed as www.newminiparts.co.uk but it just gives a list of links now
The phone number given is 0161 7611615
