Parcel Shelf - no hardware! Aftermarket?

I ordered my parcel shelf from morristown MINI and it came alright, but I've got no hardware. Anybody got the specs so that I could just grab the screws and the receiver clips at an O'Reily's or somewhere? The nearest MINI dealer is three hours away.

The supplied clips are horrible. Anything you find has got to be better :-)

I was about 5 seconds away from just using a bolt and wingnut this week after fighting with the left side screw on two different shelf installs.

Once you remove the knee bolster, you may find that you have something floating around tha garage (or nearby hardware store) that'll work.

Good luck on the install !

Try a local hardware or auto supply store. Pick up a couple of #6 or #8 fold-over speed nut clips, like these and a few #6 or #8 black trim screws, maybe 3/4" to 1" long, like these.

My shelf was also missing the hardware and I improvised with hardware bits similar to above.

I eventually replaced the crappy blue plastic clips with the speed nut clips. I found them at Lowes in the specialty hardware drawers in the hardware/fastener aisle but you should be able to get them at nearly any car parts store. The #6 was the perfect size for the screws supplied with the parcel shelf. They worked so well I also replaced the same blue clips that hold both downtubes in place (2/tube).
