Removing Steering Wheel Trim?

Anyone know how to remove the silver trim on the 3-spoke wheel? I have the multifunction wheel if that makes a difference..

I'd like to pull the trim pieces off to paint then. The nasty cheap silver pieces are laughing at me every time I drive the car...

I believe there are screws on the backside of the steering wheel that you need to remove, then the pieces should just pop/fall right out?

There is another thread on this a couple up...but yes that is right, except for the part about them falling out. It requires a little bit of effort to get them out after the screw is out...
