Pink Dash Panels Finally done!

From the Can't a girl just get pink paint thread here is my finished project! It took me about 4 1/2 days and $80. Overall it came out good for a DIY project. I am a little dissapointed that you cant really see the pearl in the paint except in direct sunlight. It looks awesome when you can see it, but in the shadows it seems dull. Well I only spent $61 on the paint and the rest was tools . So I feel for the money I spent it looks great and if I change my mind I wont feel sorry. But so far I like it and I figure it will get me through until I can afford to have it done professionally.

I painted the downtubes metallic silver:

A close up of my betty sticker and the lettering I added with my Minis name

I also painted the speedo and vent rings the same silver (until I can afford chrome!)

Excellent!

And I wouldn't go to chrome. I like the silver... But it's your car..

Nice job! ...and even tho I usually favor chrome, I agree with the Dr about silver vs chrome against the pink in your dash. In the end tho, do what you love and enjoy - that's one of the many beauties of our MINIs!

IMHO, I wouldn't get it done professionally. It looks good as is, and you have the self satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself. There are a lot of people who wouldn't have had the guts to try it. I know we can't see close ups, but unless you have runs and drips, I'd leave it as is.

sweet, but I would keep it silver, too, or paint it blue to match the seats and mats. but i'm biased cause I'm one of those people that hate chrome

Nicely done!! Since you mention it, one can detect a bit of the pearl in your pics...a very elegant touch. As for the chrome, you have a vision...go with it!!

The pink looks great, I think you will be dissapointed if you have it done professionally as it looks good now. The chrome would look nice but if I were you I would either paint the silver pink to match or blue to match the rest. I have blue downtubes somewhere in my gallery as an example. Nice work!!!

Not a single run or drip! This girl knows her stuff! My other hobby is scrapbooking and sewing and rubber stamping. I am going to custom sew my own boot and brake covers next. Already bought the leather!

Out of curiousity, did you go over all the painted panels with rubbing compound after a few days?

It looks great, by the way!

WOW! Great job! Great to know there are other scrapbooking/rubber stamping MINI owners! Some powerful addictions! I'm just starting a "minibook" on my MINI.

Two words: Down Tubes! I think it would look great to paint them to match the dash.

You did a fantastic job, your workmanship (workgirlship?) is excellent. It looks really good!
