Has anybody actually been able to buy and install an S chrome grill on the Cooper S? If, so can you provide a contact, name, number or email? I have emailed a number of people in the US and England with no luck. Thanks in advance!

Long Time Listener,First Time Caller

The part number for the S chrome grill is 51 137 122 473.That being said ,there are none in the US yet and I still haven't been able to get the part number for the slat for the lower grill.

I want to see a MOAB

FYI....you can order parts from your service center. I ordered some parts that had to come from Germany and my Service guy did it for me. Why can't they get the grill?? Worth a try.

Just on ebay, and they have the billet chrome grille, and it is only $69 and ends in a few hours, if you have to think about it the guy has 33 of them. just go to ebay and type keyword: mini cooper, it is on the second page. that is the lower grill

Thanks TJaug,

I was really wanting that # when I had a dark silver S on order, but now that I'm going with Chili Red/White, I'm not so sure I still want a chrome grill.

The part number for that lower slat in chrome is: 51 117 032 900
You'll also need an adhesive strip for it: 51 11 1 490 960

Both of those parts are for a MINI Cooper, but they are identical to what would be on a chrome S. Unlike the S grill, there is no difference in the lower slat.

See ya,
JS

Hey man,

I ordered the part you listed in your post, but I saw another post that gave the top chrome grill as 51-137-026-202. Which is which? Please advise? Thanks!

Joedude99,

Tjaug gave the part number for the elusive Euro upper Chrome S grill with three slats. The number you list above is for the standard chrome Mini Cooper grill with four slats.

Please keep us posted on your order. I can't wait to see the new chrome S grill.

See ya,
JS

Hello and once again I have been able to defy the odds and actually get one of the ellusive parts.I received my chrome three slat Cooper S grill today, and installed it this evening. Not to difficult of a job and I believe it really sets it off.

To MGB-GT:02' MCS CR/B all options and packages except nav

To jstines, thanks for cluing me about the lower slat,I heated it slightly, with a heat gun and it just peeled off.

I will try to post some pics ASAP but I know nothing about digi cameras and my wife will probably have to end up doing it.Thanks again for your help and information

Great news, TJaug!

My Chili Red/White MCS will be in soon. Really looking forward to seeing the chrome MCS grill on a red MINI. It may be in my future, after all.

Let me know if you need any assistance with posting to the gallery, creating a link to it, etc.

See ya,
JS

lbboarderh2o,

The MCS chrome grill is a new offering that started in March 2003 in the UK, but can be ordered by US customers.

The MCS is a chrome 3-slat grill (more open). The MC grill is a 4-slat design.

See ya,
JS

I just got my chrome S grill installed, and it looks cool. Rosen BMW/MINI in Philly is way cool. They didn't put on the lower slat because the install cost for the lone slat would have been over $200, and the mechanic was honest with me.

I'm going to try chrome tape over the lower slat rather than cough up $200 more backs. The install cost plus parts cost for the upper grill was $205. While I was there, this punk from my high school was there having his Z8 serviced. Where is the justice????
