OK, I actually took a file and started hacking up my MCS . But I like the result. I installed the UUC shift **** but preferred it to be installed a little lower. The UUC **** seems to sit a little higher than the stock **** so I cut down the plastic collar the **** rests on. The new UUC **** base now sits about 3/4" lower. The top of the **** rests about 1/2" lower than the stock ****. I feels right to me.

I like that! I'm getting the UUC **** too. I think the **** is too high (at least for me), i find myself grabbing on the the base of the shift ****. How much did you cut off?

As far as the length of the shifter lever, I did not cut much. I just cut the top "slotted" tabs off and then filed the diameter of the shaft so the UUC **** fit over and slid as far as I wanted it to go down. The UUC **** I believe is machined all the way through the top but the top of the **** is covered with the shift patteren insert. So you can get the **** pretty low if you wish.

The shift lever arm gets fatter the lower you go but it files down reasonably easy as it is plastic over a steel core. Just go slow and be patient. It is a trial and error fit to taste. I would cover your work area with a towel with a hole cut and slide it over the shift lever before you file. The plastic shavings will go everywhere! You don't want shavings down in your mirror button thingy.

And above all, don't let your spouse see you hacking up your new car.
