Interior/Exterior Solutions to side sunglare problem?
>>Thanks digi~ for posting that curtain link. I think it would get in the way of the airbag, though.

>>Here's Johna15's MINI5 with the strip of tint at the top of the windows. It looks better than I thought it might.

>>Didn't get the Oakleys, got some glacier glasses from REI. Yup, the goofy kind, with the side blinders. I've had the issue w/ side glare and sunglasses for years, and never liked the look of wrap-around glasses. I got these a long time ago, they really do the job, and in all truth, I don't think they look goofy. They don't just shade the glare, they block it completely.<<
This doesn't sound like safe motoring eyewear to me. I think I would prefer sun glare to having no peripheral vision!

As many of you may already know....
I tinted my passenger and driver's side windows @ 25% Illegal in CALI??? I think not. It cuts the glare down.... well it cuts it down 75%!
I will be throwing something up like Bridger's Windshield banner... but I think it will be a band of 5% tint.... 4inches seems good...
I was considering the white... but (*sorry Bridger*) your pic has changed my mind.

>> You might even consider a gradient tint strip at the top of the side windows - that is, dark at the top, lighter at the bottom. As long as the "revenue generating speed trap representative" can see well into your vehicle, they will probaably be ok with it.
I had the very lightest tint made (only blocked 10 or 20% sun) on my 1978 Honda Civic in California, where tinting driver/passenger side windows is illegal. Sure enough, I got a ticket. My dermatologist wrote a note that I was allergic to sun and the ticket was dismissed. The doctor said he does it all the time.
The gradient would make no difference, as the states that outlaw it object due to the imperfections in the film, not the tint, per se. The films are all much better now, but an old tint that has bubbled or turned purple could obviously obstruct your vision.
I know the police object to tinted windows, but hey, has anyone looked at any SUV lately. They all have the darkest tints made on every window. Do they come that way?
That said, I'm getting Sadie tinted 38% next week in a state that actually allows it, thank heavens.

Yeah, I've noticed this, too. Particularly those Lexus RX300s, or whatever their "smallest" SUV is called. They all seem to have that iridium-type mirror tinting, although I guess I haven't noticed if it's on the driver's or passenger's windows. Do SUV makers have to put different, untinted cars on the floor in California, or what?
