JOHO
Read my post. I read stern multiple times. I am just asking for actual tests rather than some man making statements without experimental evidence. Thanks though.

*please note that I'm against HID kits too....I'm just looking for more information. If you did a search for HID kit threads on NAM, you would see that I'm in many of them posting the Stern website. But after really looking at his website i have realized that it's lacking a lot of stuff to back his claims up*

Yup, it aint worth getting blood pressure up for no real reason. thats true

However, my experience is that those who do that type of bling do INDEED care about others opinions. "here come look at what I did ... I'm putting it in a show, what do ya think?" (that is a generalization of course). After all, if others didn't think it was cool, what would be the point? Its not functional so if not to impress others, why? It would be time to move on to something else ... underbody lights?

It is "my opinion" that the fog lights on look lame. I never said the person was lame as you imply. Don't infer something into the sentences that aren't there. I am a strong believer in "to each their own". I can believe the look is lame but that doesn't mean the person is lame

BTW, opinions are just that, opinions. Everybody might like something different. You still have the right to not like it. Hate red? fine with me. I truly dont care but I am sure others do.

i don't even wanna argue about anything about lights anymore. whatever stern said about the "light facts", i understand it but don't really care. i am putting some un-useful light in the fog that (to someone) will blind on coming traffic, i do understand that. but isn't it my choice to use it safely? it's like having a 500hp ferrari rocket, it is up to your control to drive safe on the street. i may as well use the HID FOG when i'm at shows or photoshoots, or w/e the purpose maybe.

i'm just simply asking a installation question, does it has to turn into some "lame" debate about how useful the light is, how illegal the light is, how dangerous it is?

i don't want to start any stupid argument between fellow NAM members, as we are all bunch of good mini coopers owner who are seeking for fun and maybe unique-ness in their car? lets just put this aside for now i guess? i can always ask some "irresponsible" body shop that will help me with the question or install it for me. haha!

Heh heh! I, too am interested in doing up the foglights with HIDs. However, everytime someone brings this topic up, the same ol' Daniel Stern will always get brought up and the debate about blah blah blah will always be debated... always the same ol' blah blah blah.. always...

I don't care about legality. As Jer Jer puts it, it's more for show, photo shoots, and when no one is around! Heh heh having the foglights on is too much attention to an already attention grabbing car! I sure like the attention though.... anyways, alas, I'm not from the Americas, so i don't care.

Anyhow, these are the two issues i see with fitting it.

Firstly, I'm worried that ,with the heat given off by the HID combined with ambient temps of roughly 32-33 degrees, will melt the foglight housing.

Secondly, the placement of the ballast. I'm not sure if there's enough space or a good spot to place it. Not to mention the heat generated from it, so i reckon it can't be placed on the plastics.

The other option is to get those "Xenon" filled bulbs which are in abundance. Although the colour wouldn't match 100%, it is not far off. And very much cheaper... but....

Btw, having HID foglights, is not lame, it's... COOOOL DUDE. Hahahaa different generations have different opinions, so definitely you're entitled to yours, as are we.

OT, can two chows fit in the Mini?? I used to have a show Chow before and she was huge! I can't imagine two in the Mini!! heh heh

It doesnt really matter if all that you are after is the color. The color of those bulbs comes from being 8000k temps. So any company's HID bulb that is rated at that temp should have the same color.
