Arm rest removal help needed

I have a 2005 MC with a dealer installed arm rest which I would like to remove. I unscrewed the two screws on either side in the rear, and also removed the top ring around the cup holder. Now I am stuck. Do I have to remove the center console to get at the bolts that secure it to the floor? Also, can I order a part to cover-up the large gap that is going to be created after I remove it? Thanks for you help - I'm sure you all can tell that I am auto-repair challenged.

You two should just trade cars and save yourselves some time.

Its a factory installed armrest, so its not a MINI fini. I will try to take a picture tomorrow - if the sun ever comes out.....too much rain.

One of the first things I did to mine was remove the factory armrest. You will have to remove the entire console to get at the bolts and to completely remove it. I replaced the console with the standard one that comes on cars equiped without an armrest.

The console is fairly easy to remove. Look under all of the rubber mats and remove the screws. I think there is one in the change holder and I know there is at least one in the rear cupholder. Then you will have to pop the e-brake boot holder out and there may or may not be a bolt holding that on. Be careful with that step because the plastic is easy to crack. You will also have to pop out the tire monitor button near the e-brake and disconnect it. Then you should be able to wiggle the console off and get at the armrest.

Thanks for the arm rest removal information. It looks doable so I have decided to give it a try. I found someone to swap consoles with so hopefully this will all work out. My first mod! - or maybe its an unmod mod.
