Interior/Exterior Puddle lights, again
thanks, xizor- looks good on that xB.
basically mine is going to be a lot rougher as i was going to buy the
LEDs, resistors, wires separately and make my own harness. but the
install itself is the same as far as removing the skirts and drilling
holes. I would probably just hotmelt the LED directly onto the
skirt (lowest profile possible) and just tape the wire down, run
the wire through the firewall and just tap into the dome light
circuit or the harness itself.
there's really nothing hard about
this install.
haven't had the chance to buy the LED's just yet. if i can find
the 2600mcd blue LED's over the weekend at Radioshack, i might
run the LED's on my G35C. it won't work on the MCS...for reasons
mentioned on my earlier post...i'll need different LED's for better
dispersion.

Before you spend big bucks at Radio Shack, you might try a "real" electronics supplier. I like All Electronics, but there are lots of others. The pricing is typically much better.
Ultrabright LEDs, check out the 1-Watts and pre-mounted ones on the second page:
http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...trabright.html
Big nasty Red LED, 6000mcd for 75 cents:
http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...LED,_5MM_.html
Also, if you don't like the focused light, you can grind down and re-polish the dome lens on an LED, very simple to do. You can go flat, or just change the shape a little, lots of options there.

^^ thanks for the link.
the blue ones at RadioShack are 2600mcd whereas
the ones on that link shows 1500mcd, so not comparing apples to apples,
but i guess you can run 2-3 LED's per unit and still be waaay under the
$4+ each.
thanks for the idea of grinding down the tip of the LED. that's a great
idea for single firing for like center consoles or under the dash courtesy
lights where the goal is to achieve diffused lighting with the additional
benefit of not being asked to illuminate in the same pattern next to
each other.
for puddles it might be tough to get the consistency unless you have a
jig to perfectly grind down each of the 10 LED's tips evenly. which i
guess can be done with some care and a caliper.

after figuring out which wire it is, simply use a wiretap to that wire with the wire running to your lights and find a suitable ground. you'll also need to find a way to run the wires from the outside of the car into the footwell, which may or may not be by going through the firewall if you can snake the wires through there.
