Interior Lighting Kit

I just installed it today. Its a MINI Accessory that comes in Blue or Amber. It is for the center console and it illuminates the cup holder and the space under the toggle switches with LED's. It looks very nice at night. It was well worth the hours of installation. I got it from Jason at Classic MINI, where we get a NAM Discount.

Hi

I can take pics, but from there I am not too sure how to post them.
No need to get all mad folks.

Took me about three hous to install the kit. I'm really slow because I answered the phone, looked for misplaced tools, read instructions carefully, and measured 3times before drilling.

I'll look for a post from some time ago, to see if they posted any pics.

I thought they were standard on the '06. I have them on my MCS, came that way when delivered. Is it another thing that's standard on the MCS but not the MC?

They do look nice and do a great job of putting light down low so one can see what's in the little cubby under the climate control.

Looks a lot like what I did to my 2003 MCS before these kits were available. I put in 3 blue LEDs, one for each footwell and one in the panel under the toggles. Total cost, about $12.00 at Autozone.

It does sound pretty cool, but it also doesn't sound like that many lights to make a difference. I dunno...I'd need to see pics.

I have them on my MCS also and I agree, they are very nice and helpful at nighttime. They provide just enough illumination to see the dark recesses of the dash, but not bright enough to be distracting.

Mine are amber, but blue might be purty

$100 for courtesy lights and a switch... dang.

i did my Civic's lights this morning... 2 LED's for center console and
passenger foot area for less than $6. just get some parts at RadioShack
and fabricate one.

It's like those keychain LED flashlights...the high brightness ones. Just bright enough to find your drink or whatever you've left in your organizer between the uprights. Also makes water bottles look really slick.

for those that want to make something on their own, here's a cool
site where you can punch in the numbers to get your resistor value.

http://metku.net/index.html?sect=vie...calc/index_eng

i think im going to make me a 5x puddle light kit for experiment.

Thanks, I'm interested in doing this, but I would like an idea of what some look like already so I can figure out what I do and do not like and make something to suit my tastes.

I love VIP lights, I actually installed a 5-LED set this past weekend on my TSX. My friend w/ a G35C also really wants a set. Building your own would be pretty easy, but make sure you weather proof them.

cool! please post picts.

the only thing on my G35C is that there's already lights under
the door that illuminates the puddle area... not sure if i should just
get some blue LED's in there and just call it a day. or unplug them.

(maybe we should start another thread on puddle lights...)

I'd like to do VIP Lights on my MINI. If someone decides to do it, please take alot of pictures and post how you did everything. I think they would look very cool on a MINI and would love to have them on my MINI.

this pic is a bit overexposed, the lights are more focused then it appears. a new thread sounds good

My '06 S Cabrio has two orange LEDs in the overhead light panel, at least 2 under the center collumn, and one in each door handle. I have been thinking it would be really nice to have a couple in each footwell also. The thing is that I'm not so good at figuring out that sort of thing. If someone could tell me what parts to use and what wires to tap into I'd do it in an instant.

ok, let's hop on over to the puddle lights thread for puddle lights so we
do not hijack this thread any further.
