Finding a Bike Tray for OEM Roof Rack ...

I didn't think it would be this difficult ... Here's what I've found so far:

- Adapt Thule V2 tray using BMW parts 82720304660, 82720304661, 82720304662.

- Adapt any Thule upright bike mount using their 532 adapter. (Don't like upright bike mounts, I prefer fork mounts)

- OEM Bike Tray (dunno who makes this, heard not so good things about it)

- Yakima King Cobra rack using MightyMount adapter. Doesn't lock !!! Apparently, there's an Accessory Lock Housing kit but doesn't seem like it's an "official" kit.

- RockyMount Lariat Vortex SL. Seems like the best fit, also price-wise. However, their customer service rep told me MINI has been OEM'ing two different bars with slots having different dimensions. RockyMount needs the slot to measure 13/16" wide and 3/16" deep. Not sure I'm measuring the slot properly, mine seems too narrow (hehe)

Any thoughts??

I was also in your predicament but really didn't like the idea of using a special adaptor to use a yakima or thule tray. I took a look at the OEM fork mount tray a little more closely and am pretty sure it's a Thule V2 with the appropriate mounting hardware to install directly onto the OEM bars. I've been using it for about 6 months now and haven't had any problems.

That's good news! Would you mind posting a photo if you can?

I have the OEM fork mount and it is the Thule. If you don't like that version you can buy any Thule get the VW adapter add an appropriate sized washer and it works as well. I had the issue with the original oem upright that clamps to the rear down tube, because neither of my bikes have a rear down tube. I went with the upright clamp from Thule and added the VW adapter then went with the fork mount when it came out.
