Driving light relay placement?

I hope this is the right forum for this...couldn't decide between here and Beneath the Bonnet...

I am finally getting around to wiring the Vision rally lights I mounted weeks ago. I am curious about where people with PIAA's or similar aftermarkets have mounted the relay under the hood. My instructions totally leave this part out . I read jbing's excellent how-to sticky for PIAA's on an MCS (which is a BIG help with wire routing), but the same placement of the relay on an MC won't work.

Is there any problem with mounting it beneath the cowl on the passenger side, and fishing the wires over to the driver's side (so they can go thru the grommet into the interior) ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Dave

Hey Dave,

I've seen three different locations that folks mount the relay; left side on a stud by the ABS system:

On the right side - had to drill our own hole, but it made for short runs for power, light feed and highbeam tap wires:

The other place I've seen mentioned as a mount is on one of the studs for the PS fluid tank. Although I prefer the more hidden locations.

Good luck and it's a great mod.

Thanks Smokey. I like your placement beside the driver's side bonnet hinge and will give that a shot. Thanks!

I used the screw that goes into the plastic just left of the intake box (behind the + battery lead on the MCS). I have a Hella kit but if the PIAA relay is skinny enough, it should fit.

the chassis somewhere.
