Chrome Trim

With the recent purchase of my 2006 Mini I am so excited to dress it up. My question is - has anyone bought the chrome trim pieces to accentuate the interior of their Mini and also has anyone removed the trim after it has been applied for a long time? I am curious how well the trim stays on and if there is damage after it is removed. Also I am open to any suggestions for pimping out my ride.
By the way I'm a oldie but young at heart - so I'm trying to learn as much as I can about Mini's through the forums, so thanks to all for the time you put into this site.

It all depends which trim you are talking about. You can buy many of the pieces from Classic MINI that are the actual OEM pieces that you can just swap out pretty easily, which is of course the best fit and will cause no damage, and from Classic and with your NAM discount is often the same price or cheaper than aftermarket pieces. Regarding aftermarket pieces that use 3m tape to be placed on top of the old trim, it looks the same as it is the same material as OEM but the fit is not quite as good though you cant really tell visually. I'm not sure if it causes any damage when you remove it though, I hope not (I have both types). There is also actual metal trim that you can purchase through a few sites, mostly european I think, and they are pretty spendy.

Classic's website is http://www.driveclassicmini.com
Some parts/accessories are shown here, but you may be better off calling them. I've never actually called them myself, though, because a) I don't have my MINI yet, and b) they're just down the street from me
And don't forget to ask for the discount!

If you call and tell them you want to swap all interior pieces for chrome, they will be able to tell you the pieces/parts numbers you want. Very helpful bunch they are.

Just in case you have any doubts about actually doing this.... I sat in a Mini with chrome at the dealer and decided my car needed it, so my dad and I put it in. At first my dad was against putting them into his car as well, since it didn't have the outer chrome pieces, but after driving mine a couple of time, he decided he HAD to have it for his. We both couldn't be happier with this mod, it really makes such a huge difference!

As for other mods, it's hard to make suggestions without knowing color and whether it's an MC or MCS.
