Lighted shift **** wiring

OK, I found a shift **** I really like. I have the option to make it lighted internally if I wish. My question regards the wiring. Is the shift lever hollow or solid? I don't want to have the wiring exposed and cheesy looking. Thanks!

Liberal editing, but in my opinion I've yet to see one that didn't look very ricery. Just my opinion, though. I don't think it is hollow but you may be able to conseal under the shift boot and just permantly raise the boot up.

I was tempted to use a lighted shift ****. My goal is to make the MINITOR look like even more of a spaceship though, so I dont mind the rice effect.

The flameball has a small hole drilled in the bottom of the ****. You push the LED into the drilled hole and run the wires down your shifter. If you are worried about the look of wires down your shifter you can use some heat-shrink to put over the wires and shifter so they are not noticeable. I used some shielding from some wire cable that fit over it all tightly. With the boot from the shifter tied up to the bottom of the ****, hiding the wires is not really necessary.

shouldnt the shifter boot cover the entire "post" anyway? (thus hiding the wiring)

with the stick setuo there is about a 2 inch gap to where the boot rests, you can however pull it up to reach the ****, just not a whole to keep it there though.

It depends on your set-up. I have a B&M SS and have about a one inch gap between the boot and ****. That is why I used the wire insulation to hide the LED wires. I could have easily tied my boot to the bottom of the **** but I don't like the look of the shifter boot choking up on the bottom of the shift ****.

Stock shifter shaft is solid, not hollow.

True, it is solid. But it is is drillable. And you would only need to go down about 3 inches to get under the boot collar. then drill another hole into the side and there ya go
