Speedo ring install

After trying to change the speedo ring myself, I gave up and took it to Steve in North Hills, CA. He removed the vent and hazard/dimmer rings, then poped the bottom center dash piece out a bit to loosen the grip on the speedo ring. The ring came off pretty easily by grasping the inner portion of the ring and pulling it off by hand. After installing the new speedo ring, pop the bottom center dash piece back into place.
Thanks weegit for chrome pieces. The interior has a new, look.

Slightly bend the tab that holds the gauges to the bracket, and they will come apart. Now, remove the screws on the back of the gauges. The front plate and trim should separate from the guts. There are several wide tabs that hold the trim on. Put a screwdriver under one will, pry it away slightly, and the trim comes off. When reassembling, be sure to get all the body pieces back where they fit snug. It took me and ej (with whom I exchanged trim) about 15 minutes.

As for the center cluster trim, I must have been lucky. I just pried under the bottom edge and it popped off. Maybe the amount of glue used varies widely from car to car. Heinz must be sniffing more than Gerhard
got the dual cluster on column done ..but completely stuck on center gauge..this is so stressful..I don't know what I was thinking in starting this dern project

Sounds like what you went through is the norm. I was lucky and so shouldn't continue to tell my version.

Glad to hear you are part way there. Read ej's post about the center console. It sounds like a professional may be required, unless you know how to partly dismantle the dash - enough to get behind the edge of the trim. Wish I could help more. Good luck.
