Help with Autometer 2 1/16 gauge mounting

Purchased Autometer Ultralite Boost/Vac and A/F gauges along with the ATM2204 cups to mount on wheel beside the tach/speedo setup. These gauges have very long mounting screws sticking out the back that appear to be used with some plastic adapters that came with them for other types of mounts.

My question: how do I remove thes so the gauges will sit in the cups to the correct depth (or safely cut them off) without messing up the gauges.

its ok to just cut them shorter. it wont hurt the guages.
just make sure to use common sense when cutting them. i just used a hand hack saw. no worries.

yep, those are only used for flush mount, you can cut them off for pod mount.

I actually asked the folks at Auto Meter the same question regarding my
gauges and they confirmed you just cut them shorter.
