Interior/Exterior Race Seat = More Room?
Onasled, why the strenuous objection to a little seat reclination? I think I am going to have to do it for mine, not as much as say Kimi Raikkonen's but maybe a little more than Michael Waltrip's. I don't think there is a safety issue as long as the belt angles all are within the mfg spec. is there? The Simpson site for example has diagrams for both upright and reclined seating.

Of course there are some that feel that a more layback works for them. Maybe because they have been in the habit of doing so for so long. I just assumed that T-diggie had not tracked yet, and I just wanted to stress that most all schools and instructors like to see seats as upright as possible and closer to the wheel then one might be used to. It's an excellent driving position that if you have not tried, you should. If you are a recliner, then just give the more upright position a chance, for at least a 2 days worth of tracking. My bet is you'll never go back..
Layback seating is usually only done because of space restraints. I don't think you'll see a professional sedan driver in a relined position, no more then 15 degrees. 20 degrees and more and your starting to recline.
Just look into what HANS offers in their head and neck restraints.
Just one more point on this. When reclining a factory (type) seat, you are doing something that a reclined "race" set is not doing, and that's pulling your shoulders forward rather then supporting them forward.

Thanks for the reply, I'll definitely try it as upright as I can.
