Is it possible to retrofit heated seats into a MINI S? My wife's MINI doesn't have heated seats. Is it possible to purchase them and have them installed? Any ideas what the cost of the seats would be? How about labor? Is it a job a mechanical novice like myself could handle?

after having heated seats in my "S"
i want heated seats in my hot rod (1968 GTO convertible)
so i was talking to my friend, who's a mechanic and he said you can buy the heating elements and install them into the seats
i'm not sure how much work is involed to do this
(i don't want to spend a fortune,either)
i'll be looking further into this in the near future

BUMP Just trying to resurrect this dead thread.

I know that summer is upon us and this is likely not on anyone's mind, but I'm hoping to do this for my wife before another "frozen a$$" winter in Wisc.

Anyone try to retrofit the MINI heated seats into a non-heated seats MINI?

You'd have to replace the entire seat, plus the center console. I don't think there's a way to retrofit the heating elements into your existing seats so they'd need to be replaced outright. Then there's the wiring

I imagine it's possible, but it may not be easy, or cost effective.

Plus, the wiring harness. OR, you wire it in yourself - don't forget the fuses and the switches........in my opinion, it would be a nightmare......forget about it - or order another car.

Aftermarket alternative

Instead of OEM heating seats, there are aftermarket heating element, inserted inside the seat with an external switch that can be mounted anywhere. I've installed them in other cars before. It isn't difficult, but time consumming.

PM me, if you're interested.
