WTB...Perhaps. Nice Mini S
Hi all. Newbie here. I recently sold my Z06 (still hurtin a little) and I am considering a Mini. I also had an 89 325ic with a five speed and I'm still kickin myself for getting rid of that. It wasn't a rocket but it was always fun to drive. I want something fun and economical that I can mod up a little and I'm lookin at the MCS. I know it's not going to replace a near 700hp Z but I hear these things are a blast to drive.
Couple of questions: How are they in the rain and snow covered roads? How reliable are they as an everyday driver? I'm on the East Coast (NJ) and looking. I have the cash and I'm ready to buy if I can find the right one.
Joe

Hey Joe,
Welcome to the MINI family (kind of).
From my own experience, the MINI is as competant as any car in the rain and, after switching the stock run-flats to Pirelli P-Zero Neros, handles the snow beautifully.
I live in NJ as well, (Holmdel, 114 off the GSP), and it handles any NJ weather very well. 'Winston' (yeah, you'll probably end up naming yours, they've got THAT much personality) has gone up to Vermont during one of the past winter's snowstorms (had to go catch the fresh powder for the weekend) and to & from Chicago twice, during both a tropical rain storm last year and a Nor'easter this year (both on the hilly, windy stretches of I-80 in PA).
If you're ever in the area, feel free to IM me (wittlepotato , AIM) and I'd be more than happy to show you the MINI if I'm free. My MINI is somewhere in the middle as far as mods, but it should give you a fair idea of what a mod'ed MINI can do.
Good luck with your car search and hope to see you in a MINI soon. Bri
