Clearcoat runs HELP!!

Hey all,

I just finished painting a few items (dont worry they werent on the car, I still havent taken delivery) and stupid me managed to get two BIG runs in the clearcoat . I'm hoping that someone here has enough paint experience to recommend a procedure to remove them without having to repaint everything. The paint and clearcoat together ran me better than 100 bucks for a pint so Im really not interested in starting over. From what I've read I should be able to sand the surface smooth then finish it with 1500grit paper before using any random polish compound and still get a crystal clear topcoat. Any thoughts on this or other ideas? thanks.

Are you painting exterior or interior items? For interior items, I bought spray paint to match the car color from paintworld.com. Much cheaper.

Wait until it hardens otherwise you will have a real problem, then use a hard block covered with 600, and wet sand the top of the run, until you get close to the rest of the clear coat, then switch to 1000 and wet sand carefully again then, go to 1500/2000 all the time being very careful not to sand through the clear coat. When it's all flat buff with a good buffing compound and a foam buff. It happens even to the best of body shops; sometimes it's hard to tell when to quit spraying.

thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou . You have no idea how relieving it is for me to see that I can fix this (relatively) easily. I spent all winter polishing and painting to get the perfect finish and i thought it was going to be ruined because of one dumb mistake. you rock!

I bought a CF wing for my WRX long time ago and it had a blob of
clear on it on one side..

as purdysd mentioned, I just sanded it down until relatively smooth,
then took a 1500grit, wetsanded to a flat surface... then took some
very fine polish and buffed away.
