Interior/Exterior Decorating Your MINI??
Big Red Rudolph nose
Star of Bethlehem mounted and shining on the roof
Decorate it as a donkey as a more suitable transport for the Holy Virgin. (had Joseph had a MINI instead of a MOKE, they might have gotten to Bethlehem early enough to get a decent room!)

I'll help get things back on track, because I had this same thought yesterday.
I would like to do Christmas lights around the back window. Does anyone know where you can get lights that will plug into an auto power socket?
I'm also considering the battery-powered kind, which are readily available, but then I would have to go into the boot to turn them on/off all the time.

Find that old recharger cord from the cell phone you had 4 phones ago, get the battery lights and cut off the batterys, got to PepBoys for some crimp connectors and re-assemble in logical fashion ....
... thanks for the hints everyone - lights around the windows sound just right!
(and here I was thinking I'd just do something silly like put on my new exhaust this weekend ...)

Don't forget to check your local laws before doing this, officer Grinch may write you a ticket for illegal lighting, especially in The People's Republik Of Maryland.

I was thinking of battery powered lights too, but in a different way- on the exterior. Keep the on/off switch inside the cabin, mount it somewhere handy (sun visor, using rubberbands). Run the light strand out the sunroof and wedge the light strand into the sunroof gasket area. Since you can open the roof only a few inches, this "should" work. Then close the roof (and hope you don't pop and bulbs). The strands are cheap enough that if some lame a$$ steals them, they can be replaced. I'd also like to do the front grill, but running the cord under the heat shield into the cabin through the gasket could be risky with the engine heat. I'll play with it this weekend and come up with a plan. There's an old Studebaker (sp?) in our track that gets covered in lights and they put a life-size Santa doll in the passenger seat.
>>Why not just get a cheap inverter and string regular lights around? Saw some 100W inverters at the auto parts store the other day for $40.
The same as he said.
We have one to power the laptop that plugs into the lighter socket so why not run the lights off it?
Don't string lights around the outside though because they'll rub right through the paint in just one or two short trips.

This is an interesting idea, I have a bunch of old charger cords. Thanks for the tip
Now, how do we affix this to the interior in a non-damaging way?

DO NOT DO THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN OR ON THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i had the power converter setup for about two weeks, when a kind state trooper approached me at the airport. he said that if he saw my car move while the lights were on i would be hit with OVER 350 in fines. there are vision issues and emergency light permit issues (becasue of the colors). otherwise the setup was going well.

No rear-facing white lights other than the reverse light are allowed. I don't know how lights on the interior of the car would affect that, but I think it really depends on the cop. I think most cops would just say "You need to turn those off. Did you know...blah blah blah" and not ticket you. *Most* cops are as bad as they're made out to be!
this trooper was very cool headed. he knew the rules and he knew how to be human at the same time. he went on to explain that CT just graduated a whole bunch of cadets. i guess they are very nerdily strict.
however, after all was said and done he looked over the car as i was loading my girlfreind's luggage and said "this is a nice looking car". walked around front, saw the scoop (not the s logo) and said "this the sport?!" he knows his stuff i guess.
