I see that Gen 2 seat swaps are relatively straightforward. Has anyone attempted a Gen 3 seat swap into a Gen 1 car?

What about other BMW seats?

The stitching is coming apart on my driver's seat, and I would like to use this opportunity to upgrade to something more supportive. Just trying to determine what all of the reasonable options are. Not wanting to do a lot of fabrication here, but not opposed to modifying mounting brackets, adapting wiring, etc.

What has been done? What has been tried, and deemed "I won't do THAT again"?
