I didn't think rice at first but you may be right. I first thought of Lamborgini. My 11 year old son wants me to do this to my car. I does look cool at a car show, but my will car will never have them. the reverse hinged bonnet reminds me of an old Jag.

Looking at the pict. Jonauto posted, would be a pain in the butt getting in & out of that MINI. As had been said, would just add weight, window probably wouldn't seal. OK, so much for the cool factor. What's the cost to look cool when you get out of the car? I thought a MINI looked cool already!

There's a red MINI owner on CarDomain.com that has the lambo doors set up as well as a wack of other mods. You can search the pages there to find more pics of one. I'm just too lazy to search it out for ya. As for the price, I've seen kits and companies advertising it in the back of auto mags. Import Tuner is one that comes to mind. I wouldn't expect it to be cheap. Actuators, hinges and all that jazz can add up pretty quick. Everyone has their owns tastes. Do what YOU like. It wouldn't be my first choice in mods to do next, but I wouldn't tear it out if say some shows like Overhaulin, Pimp My Ride, or Tuner Transformation put them in for me. I wouldn't mind them at all.
Cheers,

I dunno, Keep you from dinign your doors.. plus I've already had to fixed a broken door due to wind catching it and it over extending.. trust me that is a crunching sound that will rip your heart apart.. I'd liek to try adn get in/out of one if it were easier than it might be worth in a practical matter.. as far as it lok I dunno, It's different, adn not in a way to gouge my eyes out kind of way which is better than I can say for a lot of riced out cars

Here are 2 pics from the Reservoir Dogs Run II MINI meet back in March of this year ...

Normally I am not for these riced out MINI's, but this was sweet. The owner did not do the run with us, and his car is obviously mostly for show. The paint job alone was $15K

15K?? He got ripped off to hell and back.

Just an FYI some people do Drive there cars daily and show there car. While we wouldn't do this mod, I know people that have, and it makes the car really stand out in a crowd. Also the mini doors are good to do this too because there is not a frame surrounding the windows, so you can roll down the windows and just have the doors up... it's looks clean, and will get you points.

I had a Triumph Spitfire that had a bonnet that opened from the rear like that. It just made getting to everything really difficult.

I've never really thought about doing the Lamborgini doors, but I like the idea of moving the hinges from the front of the door to the back so I'd have suicide doors.

No real reason to do it, I just think it would be something different.

I have an article about the blue Cooper with lambo doors. That thing has been modified to no end! the frame was stretched 7 inches, it is a Cooper, not a Cooper S, they added a turbo package to it that boosted it to 280 hp, and then added the lambo doors. It also has a huge stereo system in it. The article comented that the door mod was roughly 2500 US Dollars.

Hope that helps

These are the folks I am considering using. Looks like a top quality job on the design, not some cheap universal kit modified to fit the MINI. Pretty reasonable to, 950lbs sterling ($1800.00 US) I'll check back when I'm done w/pics

Its a good price...but installation looks to be a pain....lots of grinding, which means lots of hours to pay for labor if you arent doing it yourself...do you think it seems possible to do yourself?
