That is the first MINI I have seen with the Kazera KZ-S's, other than mine, I think they look great. I love the LY/BL MINI's too.

Gravedgr,
You have a PM from me. Here is a link to my MINI2 picture gallery where you can see side shots of my car with the Kazera wheels around town or on the dyno at Dastek North America, home of the UNIChip.

they list one for $29 - much more $ that the do it yourself, but if you don't have a nice set of tin snips....
When I bought my 02 back then, the dealer highly recommended it as they'd had problems with their demo car already.
I put one it right away and have never had a problem from heat. I've pulled a few things out that it caught tho.

The hinged gutter guard used in the link above can be purchased from any Ace Hardware store for $1.99 or $2.99, I can't remember which, and it is enough material to make four grilles for the intake scoop.
For the price and the little time it takes to make, it is a very nice mod. I have gotten many compliments on mine.

ylwjkt,
Removing the body colored grille and replacing it with the chrome one is more of a patience project than a time consuming one. The aluminum self-tapping nuts on the upper grille and the plastic cilps on the bumper cover grille take a lot of persistence and a gentle but firm touch.
I used a combination of How-to's and some common sense to complete the task, just remember, breaking any of the plastic tabs is a very bad and expensive thing to replace.
Here is a link to a How-To on removing the upper grille and the front bumper cover:
http://motoringfile.com/howto/MINI_a...ll_install.pdf
This link also covers the removing of the lower grille from the front bumper cover. The most frustrating part for me was removing the aluminum nuts the hold the upper grille assembly in place. Used a combination of flat blade screw driver and pliers to remove each nut. Slide the screwdriver between the nut and the hood and give slight but constant pressure way from the hood. At the same time use the pliers and turn the nuts counter-clockwise and the combination of the to forces will remove the nuts.

I used these two How-To's and the instructions that came with the PIAA 540's to install the driving lights. I would recommend doing the grille first and then installing the driving lights. I personally would not want to remove the lights and the brackets again after taking all the time to install them correctly. I even shortened the wiring harness to better fit my car, it comes with really long wires.
I will try to find and attach a couple MS Word documents that I have that are How-to's for the grilles and driving lights.
Attached Below is the Chrome Grille How-To in MS Word format!
***If you would like a MS Word document (1.17 MB) copy of Hafid's PIAA driving light install with his comments for each picture email me and I will send you the file. I can't find the post on NAM to like to. My email is shooter@medford.net
Hope this helps you out!

I have done the DIY mesh grill on my MINI and I love the look. I painted mine black and it looks great on my BRG. I think the black looks great because it matches the black lower screen in the bumper, as well as the black vents near the windshield wipers. When I first put it in, I left it with the aluminum color.. but it didn't match anything else on the car, and looked like it was an aftermarket thing. In black, it looks like it came with the car. My friends have commented that it looks like it is intended to be there, and not like some silly afterthought.
BTW - If anyone else is interested in this type of grill, but is not inclined to make it themselves, please feel free to contact me. I can probably make one for you (obviously for minimal cost and shipping).

I just did this mod, and it is a near match to my silver M7 grille. Had to use some silicone to attach it though, as I have the Alta diverter and have removed some of the underhood scoop parts. Looks good, cost me $1.34 with tax, highly recommend it. Soon as I remember to have the car and digi cam in the same place, I will post a shot.
I would think the mesh would have to restrict the amount of air that can flow thru to the intercooler. Now, it may not be much but, depending on the type of screen used, it could be 10%.
Any thoughts

Correctamundo Apexer,
To counteract this restriction, I recommend that you drive at least 10% faster at all times.
p.s. I found large pieces of glass embedded in the intercooler were more restrictive to cooling than a small piece of mesh covering the opening.

OMG! Where do you people drive that you actually suck up so much crap? The town dump?
Massachussetts is not the cleanest state in the country, but I have never seen a piece of anything fly up into or near that scoop.
Now that I have said that, I will probably scoop up a dumpster full of trash on the way home from work.
