Oil Temp sender location

Is anyone currently running the cravenspeed oil pan/plug tap? Seems like the sender will be sticking down really low. Add to it that my car is lowered...seems risky.
Anyone just add a 1/8" npt tap to the side of the pan?

you can get oil temp "for free" with a Scangauge.. No added sensors needed.

Haven't done it yet, but my thoughts were similar, however I wasn't thrilled with the thickness of the oil pan (given location and importance) so I figured I'd have a bung welded in.

Good idea. Have you gone so far as to determine steel or aluminum bung?

I had it off the car last weekend and completely forgot to determine but it felt like steel, maybe I'll toss a magnet at it this weekend to confirm.

Its steel. R53 was aluminum. Attached is picture of the results.

FYI, the new OEM pan sealant has some stick to it. Took awhile to work the pan off.

Now, what are normal oil temperatures? Looks like 190-240 under normal to moderate driving conditions.
