Interior/Exterior Broken antenna mount. Options?
Broken antenna mount. Options?
A car wash broke my antenna mount on my 2005 MINI S. So now I need to replace it. I could, of course, replace it with an identical part, but I'm wondering what other options I might have.
you COULD go to a hidden mount, but if you take off the original one (which requires getting behind the headliner) you'll have a hole in the roof to deal with . . .
A replacement mount if you do not have nav or blue can be found for about $50 and with $150 .... and install still requires getting inside the headliner....

btw ... how does your radio work w/out the ant? Sounds like a silly question but on a GEN2 .... loss of the ant has little impact on FM reception according to someone I'm working with in another board with the same problem on a 2009 . . . seems the roof mast is not the ONLY antenna . . .

My radio seems to work fine on FM. AM isn't as good, but it never has been.
From some articles I've been reading, it seems that since my car has a sunroof I might have a somewhat easy time of replacing this thing. There's a panel that, I'm told, is right under my antenna mount on my car. I haven't pulled the panel off to check yet.
I'm curious at what options I might have. Like maybe there's some shark-fin antenna that's an easy enough replacement.
