2012 R56 Mirror Replacement (Whole Mirror)

Has anybody had to replace their entire side mirror assembly?

I got pushed into a telephone pole and lost my passenger side mirror, luckily that was it.

I didn't get the mirror replaced at the dealer to keep insurance down and bc they cost was ridiculous. So i ordered my own assuming it would be straight forward. Only problem is i can't get the actual upper assembly off the base to access the screws.

Most directions i've seen say to just rotate the mirror, but i don't have power fold and they seem to not move an inch.

I was thinking of using long carriage bolts and epoxy to make everything stay but I wanted to see if anybody else had an idea of what to do.

Any advice/pictures/hints would be appreciated

You rotate the mirrors in towards the glass of the door. It does not matter whether you have powerfold mirrors or not. They take a little bit of effort to turn, but trust me they do. Also you should've looked at the marketplace for mirrors for sale as I have a pair of non-powerfold mirrors for sale cheaper than one housing at the dealer.

You sir (or ma'am), are a genius. I tried turning the mirror when it wasnt sitting on the car and it wouldn't budge. I dropped it on the car for a moment and was able to swing it right around to access the holes.

Thanks!

I'll be checking here next time I need some parts, got the mirror for an extremely low price compared to the dealer, thanks for the heads up!
