Driving Light Switch Issue

Hello NAM

I just recently picked up a used 2007 "MY" MCS from a used car dealership. It looks like the previous owners had already added some modifications to their own (Wheels, exhaust, black highlights, Driving Lights, etc..)

I have a question regarding of what appears to be the factory driving lights that are installed on this car (I am a bit confused if they are OEM as although the lights themselves look OEM, they are directly mounted to the plastic grill -no brackets, and do not have the add on cabin switch that the OEM has). Im about 75% sure they are not OEM - however it is questionable since they were wired up to switch on the console.

The issue is the on/off switch for the lights are actually (not anymore) wired to the internal switches on the stock dash

When first purchased, I noticed the FOGS switch (left) would work independently as long as the parking or headlamps are on. The same would go for the DL switch (right) - which would seem to work independently if the parking lights / headlamps were on as well.

Now for some reason, the DLs ONLY turn on in conjunction with the FOGS.
The actual light indicators still show up for each switch on the Speedo Gauge, however the DL now only come on with the fogs. This is now a problem as want to use my fogs only but do not want to blind other drivers with glare from the DLs.

Any ideas on what may have happened (each light / switch worked independently before)?

A possible short or hopefully its an easier fix such as a blown fuse?

I've done a few wiring jobs and aftermarket Fog installs on previous cars before, but I would like to avoid having to dissect and diagnose all the wiring from the previous installer.

I believe the switch to the right of the fog lights is the rear fog lights.... my factory driving light switch sits on the dash above my left knee. My driving lights only work with the switch on and the high beams.... strange they would be wired that way... good luck

Today I learned something new (rear fogs switch) ! Thanks for the heads-up. Looks like some tinkering is expected in this weekend's forecast.
