That came out really great!
Working with plastidip is great because: -Its not hard to get a nice, even coat -If you screw up, you can peel it off -You can easily revert back to stock color if you sell the car/dont like it -Its surprisingly durable! Even if a tech messed it up changing your tires and you had to re-do them all, it would only take a few hrs. |

For the amount of money you are going to dump into powder coating those wheels you should just get aftermarket and call it a day. I did my OZs and it $300 for all 4. When I curbed one he charged me $75 for the one wheel. Not worth it for stock wheels.

I like those, and I'd do it with plasti dip, but I don't know. If I can powder coat them and for a good price, then I'll just do that so I wouldn't have to plasti it. But it looks great man, looks like it came like that that.

Do you track or autox the mini? Im wondering how well the dip hold up to heat from the brakes?

I recently discovered plasti-dip and it has become my new best friend! This is my car during and after plasti-dip :) It took about 3 Cans to do the entire car (wheels, grille, front and rear light trim)

I have the same wheels on my car, was it difficult? And do you put tire shine on your tires, cause everytime I was wash my car I do and I want to know if it will affect the plasti dip?

Already got an issue for you. When its time to get new tires, the tech will need to remove the wheel weight which you have covered with dip. When removing this you will tear the dip and need to redo each wheel entirely.
(I am addicted to the plasti-dip, and have already been warned multiple times by my wife to stay away from our new R56!) Crappy shot of one of my Tundra wheels Attachment 174814 |
I just found out a friend sprayed her Mustange 5.0 with gun metal plastidip. Turned out pretty good.

Thanks for this! I think my 5-star twin spokes are going to get the plasti-dip treatment very soon...

Is it okay if I put tire shine on(it is a spray bottle) if I have plasti dipped wheels or will it affect it by peeling off or cause bubbles. Thank you, I haven't done the plasti dip yet, but I want to confirm this before I make that decision.

Any strategies for doing the dip with the wheels on and covering the lugs? Painters tape seems to be the best option but seems like it won't come out to well that way or that the dip will peel with the tape when I take it off. Thanks in advance guys.

This is the technique I've used for all of the dip projects I've done:
